I mean wow, right? God totally outdid Himself with this moment.
Like I mentioned in this post, patience may be a bit undervalued. We all know we’re supposed to practice it every day, but do we?
I think patience gets a reputation of being manifested mainly through waiting – which is a big part of it, but not all. Patience is shown in quick moments that we don’t see coming and can really show a reflection of our hearts. Someone’s level of patience can easily show how they feel about God and how much they trust His promises and His word.
That sounds like a lot, but I think through a month of studying this topic, we’re going to learn that showing patience can change our hearts and give us opportunities to really bless people.
Here are 10 verses to kickstart our study of patience:
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.” Ephesians 4:2 (NLT)
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged.” 1 Corinthians 13:4 – 5 (NLT)
“May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus.” Romans 15:5 (NLT)
“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT)
“Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” Colossian 3:12 (NLT)
“Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city.” Proverbs 16:32 (NLT)
“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9 (NLT)
“People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.” Proverbs 14:29 (NLT)
“So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help.” Isaiah 30:18 (NLT)
“But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life.” 1 Timothy 1:16 (NLT)
Patience is a lifelong journey, but let’s try it out today, yeah?
