What brings you peace?
The kind of peace that settles all anxiety and pear, that instills you with confidence and strength, the kind that gives you purpose.
Peace is more than feeling calm. It’s more than silence and it’s more than being still. Peace is unlike anything else and one of God’s greatest gifts to us.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“…which exceeds anything we can understand.” Peace is not so simple as wanting to sit down after a crazy day – peace is powerful and I want your life to be filled with it this month and the season of advent.
Okay so how do I have peace in my life?
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.” Prayer. Talk to God – about the good things, the bad things, the hopes, the dreams, everything – and thank Him. Have a grateful heart. Be constantly aware of God’s goodness. Make time and make room for the Lord in your daily life. DAILY life.
What will happen when I have peace in my life?
“His peace will guard your hearts and minds…” Peace will protect you! Y’all that’s huge. Peace will cover your thoughts, actions, behaviors, and it will keep you from harming yourself, others, and the Kingdom. When you make peace a priority, everything you say and do will have to run through a peace filter. No matter your circumstances or relationships, peace will be in every moment and every decision. Can you imagine the power in that? I know I want that.
What do I when I feel peace slipping from my life?
“…live in Christ Jesus.” Do you y’all mind if I get real for a minute? If your life is chaos and it feels like there’s no purpose, direction, and everything feels like it’s going wrong – can I ask if you’ve made Jesus a priority? Has His Will been a priority? Have you given time to your relationship with Him every day? Start there. If your life feels like a big mess – and let me tell you I’ve been there so often – start back at step one. Just pray, y’all. Talk with Him. It doesn’t have to be this incredible, formal moment. Just let Him back in because He’s been there the whole time and He wants to get your life back on track.
We are officially in the season of advent – the time of year when we live in remembrance and wonder at the birth of our Savior and wait in hope as He is surely coming back soon. There is truly no better time for peace than right now. All December long. It may seem impossible with the school Christmas parties, the family events, the gift shopping and giving, the meals to prep, the places to travel, but I promise you it is. It’s not only possible, but it’s necessary.
Do not let yourself get overwhelmed by our version of Christmas on earth. Give yourself the give of peace this season.
All month long we’ll be studying peace on She’s Taylored and I hope you’ll join me.
Praying for you always,
