Happy Friday, y’all!
PTL for the weekend. It’s honestly been a tough week for the Taylors so we’re very ready for the weekend and for some much needed rest.
Anyways, I’ve been SO excited for this post. It’s got a bunch of great things in it all packed into one – a list (where my list girls at?), a giveaway for YOU, and a beautiful accessory. ALL THE PRAISE HANDS!
First, I have to talk about this watch from JORD. If you haven’t heard about them – first, they’re pronounced “Yode.” JORD creates unique, luxury, wood watches. Mine is the Ebony & Emerald watch from the Frankie series and is so dang pretty. I’m really particular about the accessories/jewelry I wear on my wrists. I don’t know why, but it bothers me to wear anything too heavy. I rarely wear metal watches anymore because I have baby wrists that can’t take the weight (lolz) and I hate it when the metal pinches my arms hairs – does that happen to anyone else?!
But y’all – this JORD watch is SO lightweight. It’s legitimately comfortable and pretty – yes please! They have men’s and women’s watches, but honestly the women’s watches would work for anyone so you’re in luck fellas! Ryan would totally wear the one I have. Since the wood is so lightweight you could wear it indoors and outdoors for any activity and since the watches are so pretty they’re 100% appropriate for work.
So here’s the good news: JORD wants to give one to you! Yes, YOU! All you have to do is enter my giveaway right HERE and pick your favorite. The giveaway will end on June 4th so make sure you enter soon! (P.S. It would make a great Father’s Day gift!) Only one person will win but each person who enters gets a $25 dollar credit to use on their site – so start shopping now!!
ONTO THE LIST.
Okay so here’s some Friday realness with you. The past few weeks/months/pretty much forever has been really busy. Partly because I make it busy because I’m a freak who can’t say no – but mainly because that’s just life right? I wasn’t blessed with a good memory, so my parents trained me to write everything down. If I don’t write it down, I seriously won’t remember unless the Holy Spirit feels like giving me a freebie in that moment. I’ve learned to become extra organized to overcome my donut of a brain and I can’t help but share some tips with you! Some of these you’ve heard before, so I’m sorry if I’m a broken-record blogger but here we go!
1. Use a planner.
Just do it, okay? I don’t know how people survive without one. My planner is one of my absolute most prized possessions. I write in it every single day and it always makes me feel on top of my game (even when other things fall apart haha). No one can remember everything and with all the input thrown our way everyday it’s a nice break for your brain to look down and see top priorities. It keeps the important things at the top and will legit help you throughout the day. I push planners on everyone and won’t stop. I’m currently using this planner from Ink & Volt. It’s so minimal and simple and is organized EXACTLY how I like things. I’m currently really crushing on the new collection of Simplified Planners from Emily Ley, though!
2. Write everything down.
This is an extension of number 1 – just to further push the point like a psycho. There are times when you don’t have your planner on you and need to jot something down. For those moments I always write things down on my Google Drive App on my phone. I loveeeeeeeee having the same information on my phone, laptop, and work computer. I’ll jot down grocery lists, vacation recommendations from my dentist (yes that happened yesterday), scripture I read throughout the day, everything! There is an app for your Google Drive and then separate apps for each app within Google Drive like documents, presentations, etc. I have those downloaded but really only use my Google Drive app. I cannot recommend this one enough!!
3. Wake up a little earlier.
Don’t we all admire the people who wake up every single day at 5:30 am and get stuff done because “they just can’t sleep anymore?” I’m a morning person and I STILL like to stay in bed longer if I can. I love a good sleep in day like once or twice a month, but I do prefer to wake up earlier and get something done or at least be awake to enjoy having nothing to do ya feel me? When I say wake up earlier, I really just mean 20 minutes earlier or maybe an hour if you can – just enough time to allow yourself to not be frazzled for the day. Sort of just setting yourself up for success. On really busy weeks, I’ll go to sleep a bit earlier and wake up earlier to get more accomplished before work. It makes such a difference in your day, your attitude, and your to-do list.
4. Give yourself breaks.
It sounds counterproductive, but it’s so important to give yourself small breaks throughout the day – even if you have schedule them! An episode of friends, trip to Starbucks, phone call to mom. Give yourself 20 minutes of some happy little thing to take your mind off of whatever is making you busy. Even if your schedule is packed full, organized by the hour – you need to add in breaks. Make them meals if you have to! Just make sure you do it or you’ll burn out super fast.
5. Don’t let your to-do list become your priorities.
This one sounds weird so let me explain it. For example, my priorities should always be God first, then Ryan, then friends/family/community/church, etc. Whatever my to-do list is – workout, write a blog post, clean apartment – none of these things should interfere with my priorities. Obviously this is really tough to do – no one can do this perfectly every day. That’s why I am so adamant about staying organized because I can become so easily frazzled if I don’t consistently make time for my priorities and then fit in my to-do list as supplements to my day. Doesn’t everything in life seem to become a hot mess when you start slipping in one area? It always seems to be an annoying avalanche type thing. Reminding yourself of your top priorities puts everything in its rightful place. Then when you don’t crush your to-do list – you can show yourself some grace and try again the next day.
Don’t forget to enter the giveaway and do me a favor and give yourself some rest this weekend. Let’s not become slaves to our to-do lists. Let’s shell out some grace, make time for the important things, and let everything else fall where it may.
Thanks so much for reading and thank you JORD for the beautiful watch!
