Dreams can be scary.
They can feel impossible, improbable, and only for people who consider themselves “dreamers.” I’d argue that each of us should be dreamers and already have massive dreams brewing inside of us. Each of us are capable of using our God-given talents, gifts, and passions to accomplish something incredible and I’m going to encourage you to do exactly that today.
Do you have courage with your dreams?
If your answer is yes then way to go! Having the courage is a big step and you’re killin it. If your answer is no then let’s chat. First of all, what is your dream? Write it down! Put it out in the universe. Give yourself an hour of prayer and brainstorming and journaling. Pray for the Lord to develop it and mold it into a God dream that aligns perfectly with His will. There’s so much power in speaking life and joy and purpose into a dream – it helps your head catch up with your heart a little bit.
After you’ve spent some time praying over your dream and journaling about it in your brainstorming sesh, loop in your people for reinforcements. Get other people praying about it! So often our dreams come true because of the people who helped us accomplish them. Community is so stinkin powerful and TRUST ME they want to know about your dreams – no matter how big or small.
Something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is our role in dreams verses God’s role. Obviously, every good thing comes from the Lord and if He wants your dream to come to life, IT WILL. The other side of that is our role – what are we supposed to do while we’re praying for it?
My friend told me yesterday, “I know God isn’t going to sit down on the end of my bed and tell me what to do.” She’s so right! There are about a million different ways God can answer our prayers – through community, scripture, a sermon, a random conversation with someone at the grocery store. We’re supposed to be actively listening to God which means we need to be aware of opportunities, we need to be sharing our dreams with people, and we need to be in constant communication with the Lord. Ryan and I have a huge dream that we’re praying about so part of that requires prayer, part of it requires getting the facts/numbers, and part of it requires looking for opportunities or little “dream components.”
A MASSIVE part of being in partnership with God and your dreams means having faith that God will either let your dream come true or lead you to a better dream. There is so much faith in dreaming. There’s also a lot of doubt. You’ll hear words of doubt from social media, your brain, and even from people you love. You have to ignore the doubt and replace it with faith and of course, courage. Courage with God and courage with yourself.
Read through and pray over this verse today.
“Now glory be to God, by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of — infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.” Ephesians 3:20
Have the courage to speak it into existence.
Have the courage and the faith to believe God can accomplish it.
Do everything you can to make it happen.
