HERE *clap* WE *clap* GO *clap*
A fresh new month and a fresh new theme. LET’S GO. I already know my Type A girls have their June calendars ready to go and I KNOW my teacher friends are celebrating!
There is no doubting that June is time for vacays, BBQ’s, and vitamin D. Besides that, we also have a NEW THEME!
For the month of June we are studying GIFTS.
Not birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, or the kind of gifts that Oprah used to shell out. I’m talking natural-born abilities straight from the Holy Spirit himself: Spiritual Gifts. These gifts are God’s way of showing us Grace by making us a little more naturally inclined with something. Spiritual gifts can range from encouragement to teaching, from discernment to evangelism.
You’ve got one right now! Once you enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ – the Holy Spirit literally gives you one or more spiritual gifts. How amazing is that?
“The Holy Spirit is given to each of us in a special way. That is for the good of all. To some people the Spirit gives a message of wisdom. To others the same Spirit gives a message of knowledge. To others the same Spirit gives faith. To others that one Spirit gives gifts of healing. To others he gives the power to do miracles. To others he gives the ability to prophesy. To others he gives the ability to tell the spirits apart. To others he gives the ability to speak in different kinds of languages they had not known before. And to still others he gives the ability to explain what was said in those languages. All the gifts are produced by one and the same Spirit. He gives gifts to each person, just as he decides.”
1 Corinthians 7 – 11
Each of us is given a gift that will allow us to better serve God and love others. Each gift is equally important to the body of Christ, too. The bible relates the body of Christ to an actual body – saying that each body part has its own role to play and that each part is dependent on the others. Not all of us are going to be teaching on stage – there needs to be people behind the scenes, there needs to be people who are prayer warriors, and there needs to be people who will simply listen to and encourage others.
Just like any skill or personal trait, we need to spend time developing our gifts. Our gifts aren’t a free pass to success. Even the best speakers, prayer warriors, and evangelists practice and learn from mistakes. These gifts are natural steps forward given to us to put in some serious work.
I think it’s really easy to feel like you can’t do much as one individual or that your gift isn’t as impactful as another, but sister, that couldn’t be further from the truth. We’re going to figure out exactly why this month! You may be wondering what your gifts are at this point – if you don’t know, this test is pretty good. If you know of a better one I definitely recommend taking one! Ask God to reveal it to you and ask people you trust to help, too!
Are you ready to put in the work and actually use your gifts? I know I am! Let’s get to some serious work this month and learn how we can be the absolute best for God – with a gift that we already have. I’m so excited for this theme and to learn with you. Coincidentally, my small group ladies and I are reading Restless by Jennie Allen and it’s all about this so I’ll be sharing her little nuggets of wisdom with ya!
This month is going to be a great one. I hope you’ll tune in and follow along with me. June, you are SO welcome here!
HAPPY JUNE, Y’ALL! Let’s make this the best month yet.
