Honestly, I’ve had this theme planned for October since I started my blog in February. October is our anniversary month so it’s my favorite and a given to talk about love. With everything happening in our world right now, the timing couldn’t be better, though. It seems like there’s a horrific tragedy every few weeks – whether it’s a shooting, explosion, intentional car wreck, or natural disaster. Our world needs so much prayer, so much kindness, and above everything else our world needs love.
My heart is still aching from the Las Vegas shooting. The more I read the heavier it feels. I want to read everything about it, though. I want to see all of the photos and hear the stories. I want to remember the dozens of victims. Horrible tragedies like this make me yearn even more for Jesus. He is the only hope for this world and I can only pray that this sparks us to unite together. When unity feels impossible and when it feels like we can’t possibly make a difference anymore – press on and choose love and watch what beautiful things can happen.
It’s during these horrific times that we must give our time, resources, and prayer. The greatest thing we can do is love one another through service. Feeling sad isn’t enough, talking about it isn’t enough. We must act and we must be the hands and feet. It is our only option.
I pray that you’re seeing and feeling how much this world needs Jesus.
So the topic for the month is love. Truthfully, every month should be about love and really they always are in way. Love a big thing so it deserves it’s own month and I OBVIOUSLY can’t get through October without talking about my sweet husband. We are quickly approaching our 2 year anniversary (which is so wild) and I’ve got some thoughts to share on the past two years.
And since our God is THE God of love, we’ll be studying His word and seeking His perspective.
I’m so excited for this month. Love is not a given, we are not always naturally inclined to it – so I think we’re going to learn more about it than we think we could.
So put your heart eyes on and get ready for some L-O-V-E:
Love for each other as people, love for my dang fine husband in our anniversary month, and being God’s love on earth.
I hope you’ll study this topic with me, it’s never been more important.
